Jazzamba School of Music currently focuses on Performance Music. This three-year program is open to students with 70% or higher in their crash course studies and with an audition. Instrument majors include piano, guitar, bass, drums and woodwinds. We hope to offer vocals when we reopen.
Our first year courses include main instrument study, keyboard harmony, ear training, music history. In the second and third years of performance music studies, arranging and jazz history are also required courses.
Up to now, Jazzamba has offered only the music performance program. It is our goal to offer additional courses in the near future, such as the foundation for music education and music therapy.
Ethio jazz by Students of Jazzamba School of Music
The Jazzamba curriculum has been approved by the Federal Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Ethiopia and has a modular structure using credit points and learning outcomes. It incorporates both curriculum developed for the Ethiopian context derived from the Berklee College and increasingly the content developed by the GMA from the Global Music Campus.
Jazzamba is a major partner in this innovative teacher training and curriculum development program co-funded by the Erasmus + programme of the European Union and the Goethe-Institute. Jazzamba also hosts main project activities each September for the teacher training campuses for all the participating countries.
